Our Love Weekend

Valentine's on Sunday is pretty sweet. No pressure do go out and do something extravagant and the focus can really be on my three yummy little lovey's.
But before we get into to that, let's recap:
Friday- Play group party at the church. Children consumed a nauseating amount of treats. Came home. Napped. Friends came over to play until daddy came home- extra early! I don't remember the rest.
Saturday: a day full of sexy sledgehammering and romantic runs to the dump. I know. You all wish you could be me.
Allen took our super scary sixties master bathroom, and over the course of two days transformed it from this...

...into this. This bathroom has never looked more beautiful. Now I just can't wait to see the finished product. Which I am assured is months away. Fabulous.

To cap off our ultra romantic Saturday, we dragged the kids to a late night Home Depot run and then went all out with dinner at Arby's. We rock. Which, should you be taking notes, Arby's on the Eve of Valentine's day is like a ghost town. Take that fancy restaurants!

Sunday morning I woke up to these. Isn't the hubs adorable?? I was impressed.

Doubly impressive...he surprised me with tickets to see Dashboard. Love this man. Good thing I got him a tie. Okay, and a few other things that are not discussable. Regardless, he way outdid me this year.
We surprised the kids with a trip to Great Wolf Lodge. However, we aren't going until the first week of March, so they got new swimwear to satisfy their need to open a present at every holiday. Which I will admit, is my very own wrongdoing.

We capped off the evening with the kids and I making these yummy brownie bites.
I will put this in writing- nothing fancy shmancy occurred on our February 14th, but it was still one of my sweetest Valentine's to date.

So, It's Another Snow Day

We got the dreaded call last night at 7 confirming that school would once again be cancelled. The kids are one Winter Break Friday and Monday, so no school today means no Valentine Party and these massive cookie treats we made for Ryder's teachers are now going to be in our belly's. Good thing there is so much snow to shovel.

Speaking of shoveling snow, here are the handsome boys working there buns off last night.

And for comparison sake, here is the shot of the kid's car this morning. Obviously we got way more snow since my last post. Gag me.

With another full day to fill, a bunch of us girls met up at the park to take the kids sledding. Linley preferred to make snow angels. Pansy.

Tess was my little/big marshmallow snow bunny. I promise, she is much happier then she looks.

Ryder was in heaven. He had to be dragged to the car when it was time to leave. The snow could not have been packed enough or the ramps big enough for this kid.

Guess I should go finish folding that last load of laundry and shovel the last of the driveway. Then I shall deserve to break into that cookie.

Holy Blizzard

I have never seen so much snow. Ever. In my life. Or at least not for a really long time. I took the measuring tape out at 3. We had over 9 inches. By the time I was done shoveling half the driveway (because that is when my fingers cramped up and stopped working completely), another 2 inches had accumulated. And it is still snowing. In buckets. Which I realize is a term used for a heavy downpour. But it is downpouring. Snow.

They cancelled school yesterday at 6pm. This made me very happy, for I did not have to anticipate the 5:15 morning call wherein my cell phone rings, my home phone rings, I receive a text and an email alerting me school has been cancelled. All. At. Once. I had big plans to bribe the kids with chocolate chip muffins if they let me sleep in. Except Tess woke up at 4:30 and didn't go back to sleep until 5:15. Perhaps she was eagerly awaiting the blaring telephone?
Then Linley came in at 7:15 and every 15 minutes thereafter with some sort of complaint or plea. I finally gave up and got out of bed at 8. And made chocolate chip muffins. I am such a sucker.

We consumed all 12 muffins. And they were good. Additionally, I made three loaves of wheat bread. We consumed nearly two.

We also made 65 Valentine's cards- a combination for school and play group. If school is cancelled tomorrow, there will be one very disappointed boy in this household. I also did 4 loads of laundry. Well, three. The one in the dryer may not make it out today.

The major issue with a blizzard and a husband that leaves at 5 in the morning? There is only one person in this house to remove the massive accumulation of snow so that said husband may get his non 4-WD vehicle into the driveway. And that person does not have a chance to spend an hour shoveling until 3. When the accumulation is way too overwhelming to even comprehend. Nevertheless, that person loves her husband and so she aims to conquer. And she does an amazing job. Not the complete job, because she has the longest driveway known to man. But, since the husband can safely get his car onto the driveway, this is a shoveling success story.

That said, 18 hours at the gym has nothing on shoveling 10 inches of snow. NOTHING.

There is so much snow it will never go away. Never. It will turn black and icy and slushy and gross and will serve as a constant reminder that I am living in an evil cold miserable place.
Until Spring comes and I like it here again. If Spring ever comes....
