We like the cars, the cars that go...

 ...VROOOOOM....
(I take many liberties with my lyrics)
Last night Allen and I and another fun couple headed to the New York Auto Show.
(Yes mother, I realize I need to stand up straight.  And that my pants are falling down.  Thanks for noticing.)
It was a massive explosion of shiny, sleek and sparkly.
 Allen was in car-craving heaven.
I was super excited for the dinner that would follow.
(I am also the best. wife. ever.)
A fun little night with feasting for the both the male and the female and the family.  Not a bad way to spend a Friday.

Easter Eggcellence

Because we got back from Pennsylvania Saturday night, the Easter bunny had no choice but to hop in Sunday morning.  Not our preference, but going without my the children's Reese's eggs was not an option.
We did manage to contain the kids long enough to recap the Resurrection and watch the Mormon Message "He is Risen."
So much sadness to make for the happiest event of eternity.
 We are so lucky.
I love Easter.
I love a reason to celebrate something real and meaningful and life-changing and life-giving and love-everlasting.
We are so lucky.

Among the Amish

Spring Break started on Friday.  Wahoo!!
We thought we'd kick it off with a little weekend trip to Lancaster County, PA and experience the Amish.  And the small town folk. And the small town food. And the wide open spaces.
We began with a trip to a pretzel factory in a teensy little town.
The whole of it was completely adorable.
The kids got to form their own pretzels.
The pretzel people try to maintain some form of hygiene, so the pretzel pretend process was made of play dough.  Tess was ticked she couldn't chew on hers.
After a quick stop to the cutesy candy shop to load up on sugar , it was time for a buggy ride.  Through the Amish farms.
It was a completely serene experience.  It's awesome to be Amish. Minus that whole no electricity and smelly cow poo stench thing.  But seriously, they seem to have it all figured out.
Next up we walked through a farmer's market full of scrumptious hand-made goodies tucked into every corner.  It was a sensory dream. We tasted, we purchased, we left. Fat and very happy.

The next day we got up bright and early to enjoy some ice cream.  No really.  We did.
The Turkey Hill ice cream people were doing a little Easter event and we happily took advantage.
The kids got to see the Easter bunny, go on an egg hunt for the egg with their name on it and enjoy Turkey Hill's finest sweet confections and tasty beverages.
It was a morning happily spent.  And more happily, no dyeing of eggs occurred in the process.
Following Turkey Hill we took the kids to an Amish toy shop.  Not one of us wanted to leave. Gorgeously constructed solid wood classics.  Allen and I wanted to leave with one of everything.  Christmas is already determined this year. Love those Amish.
A little outlet shopping and then it was time to head home.  It was one of the most leisurely, easy mini-vacations we have had.
Simple, unassuming, kid-friendly perfection!!
