Decade of Dreams: The Countryside

Allen's favorite day was spent behind the wheel of this buggy. We drove 75 miles over the span of 10 hours while breathing in the fresh Dominican country air.
We visited a remote village full of adorable Haitian children. There is no electricity in the village, and so this little market is visited daily to purchase the food by the handful for a single meal. And rum by the kilo. Naturally.
We saw a garden full of oranges, papaya
(below), and noni (above).
We were privy to a "humane" cock fight. They were wearing boxing gloves.
Hiding their spurs. Grateful.
We hiked our way up to this hidden cave. Which obviously wasn't really hidden. Rip off.
We rode horsies through the sugar plantations.
We took a dip at the gorgeous beach in El Macao.
We arrived home exhausted, dirty, and completely ecstatic with our experience. A most perfect departure from our days of lazy luxury.
